My daughter is doing her O level. The natural path for her is to go for A level or pre-U. She expressed interest to do either political science or economy.

UM Plus U of Wales Becomes IUMW

The premier university of Malaya and University of Wales of UK have agreed to team up to form a new private university known as IUMW - International University Malaya and Wales.

According to UM vice chancellor, the collaboration will provide more opportunities for Malaysian to pursue higher education. The current university of Malaya's population is about 13,000 with half of it pursuing postgraduate study.

The government objective was to have 60,000 PhD holders by 2020 and the current number is only 25,000.

Last May the ministry had made the announcement that public universities are allowed to team up with private universities to generate income necessary to reduce dependence on government funding.
